Nintendo has anointed Mario Kart World as the series’ successor. It debuts with the Nintendo Switch 2 launch and is expected to carry the platform into 2030 and beyond. We’ve put together a complete release hub guide full of the crucial bits—including its release date and start time.
It’s time for a new era for Nintendo. The Nintendo 64 ran rampant in the late 90s and early 00s, the GameCube took over for a few years, and then came the Wii and Wii U eras. After a few years of mediocrity, the Nintendo Switch catapulted the brand to superstardom again.
The Nintendo Switch 2 builds on the success of its predecessor. Mario Kart 8 served the Switch valiantly, and now Mario Kart World is looking to do the same with 24-player races and more Mario madness.
Mario Kart World Release Date

Mario Kart World has a June 5 release date, and it coincides with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Yes, the newest Mario Kart racer is a day-one launch exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. You can’t find the game on any other platform, and there’s a good chance it comes packaged with your new console if you bought a certain bundle.
There has been a lot of controversy concerning Switch 2 game prices since its unveiling. Mario Kart World is quite pricey, but its content is looking to give you plenty of bang for your Gold Coins, with a slew of DLC also expected to be released over the coming years.
Mario Kart World Start Times
Many Nintendo games have a fixed launch window, meaning, unless Nintendo says otherwise, Super Mario World should be debuting at the same time worldwide.
This means no advantage depending on where you live. Because of time zones, many games launch, and certain countries get to play first. This usually isn’t the case for Nintendo titles. We’ll update you if this ends up being the case, but for now, you should be able to click your seatbelt into place, load up on Red Shells, and hit the accelerator at the same time as anyone else.
No pressure on you, Mario Kart World. You’re only setting the precedent for the rest of the Nintendo Switch 2’s shelf life. I don’t think it’s in doubt, though, the game will sell millions of copies and be a rousing success like them all.
