Nintendo Confirms Donkey Kong Bananza’s Developers

Nintendo has finally confirmed which team is behind the upcoming title, Donkey Kong Bananza, and it’s none other than the developers of Super Mario Odyssey.

Donkey Kong Bananza is the first 3D game in the series since 1999, and is going to be one of the biggest titles for the Nintendo Switch 2 once it releases on July 17. Ahead of its release, we have learned several details about the game, including new story elements, gameplay features, and more. Now we know the team responsible for Donkey Kong Bananza, and they are the same individuals who were behind a highly popular 3D Mario title from 2017.

Donkey Kong Bananza has Been Developed by Super Mario Odyssey’s Devs

As revealed by Game Informer, Nintendo recently held a hands-on session in New York for Donkey Kong Bananza on the Switch 2. Before the event began, Nintendo’s Vice President of Player and Product Experience, Bill Trinen, informed the attendees about the developers behind the upcoming title. As many may have guessed it, Super Mario Odyssey’s developers are responsible for bringing Donkey Kong Bananza to life.

Players will be stoked to know that Super Mario Odyssey’s developers are working on a new 3D title, but this time for Donkey Kong. Super Mario Odyssey was one of the highest-rated titles in 2017, holding a Metascore of 97. Players will expect this team to bring their expertise over to the new title, while taking advantage of all the new tech added in Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch 2.

In other news, Nintendo accidentally revealed that the Switch 2 has already sold over 5 million units. What are your thoughts on the Super Mario Odyssey team being responsible for Donkey Kong Bananza? Let us know below and join the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
