Cloud9 New York is one of the first organisations to make a roster change between Major III and Major IV, dismissing Attach and Mack from the starting roster. Also impacted by the switch-up is x2Pac. This news was broken today in a two-minute video uploaded to social media, prompting fans to wonder who will step in to replace the players.
Long Time Coming
Fans have been querying C9’s choices in the Call of Duty League for a while, as it’s no big secret that the squad has failed to gain much traction this season. The team sits in 10th place overall and likely won’t make it to COD Champs this year, not unless something drastic happens during Major IV.
Getting rid of Mack and Attach leaves the roster with Sib and Kremp. As x2Pac leaves, the team drops a pivotal Search coach – one that guided Atlanta FaZe to victory at the Esports World Cup, most recently and was a driving force in much of the roster’s success in recent years.
Here’s the post from the social channels that announced the news:
Today we say goodbye to @Attach, @MackMelts, and @x2Pac_ThuGLorD. While this chapter closes we are grateful for the memories, contributions, and growth throughout the journey at Cloud9. Thank you and we wish you the best in your next chapter! 💙
Admittedly, Cloud9 has one hell of a tricky schedule going into Major IV. This is what the stage looks like for the team:
- vs Vegas Falcons
- vs Toronto Ultra
- vs Atlanta FaZe
- vs Miami Heretics
- vs LA Thieves
Fans are now wondering who can step in to fill those gaping holes in the starting roster. Some have questioned the imminent arrival of Mercules, who showed up big time while filling in for Beans on Toronto Ultra at Major III in Boca Raton.
The changes will have to be made quickly, whatever they are. The next series for C9 NY arrives tomorrow.
