OpTic Forced Out of CDL Major III by FaZe Sweep

OpTic Texas has fallen short yet again at Major III in Boca Raton, collapsing against Atlanta FaZe in the elimination bracket in a 0-3 sweep. Texas’s opening series came against the Vegas Falcons, which was light enough work for OpTic, but FaZe proved to be a different beast entirely.

This is a replication of Major II, which saw OpTic Texas fall out of the running at the same stage against Toronto Ultra. Guess what also happened at Major I?

Concerning

Fans are concerned about the state of OpTic Texas in the Call of Duty League. The team has had one of the most tumultuous seasons imaginable, with roster concerns flaring up on numerous occasions. At one point, OpTic Texas sat on a map loss record of 0-18, which was unprecedented for the organisation.

What’s more bizarre is that, last year, the organisation claimed the COD League Championship for the first time since 2017, netting the biggest prize in Call of Duty esports after also hitting the top spot at Major III.

It has proven to be night and day for OpTic Texas between seasons, unfortunately.

Elsewhere, the Vegas Falcons – revitalised roster and all – dropped from Major III after an OpTic Texas sweep, and was joined by Cloud9, Guerrillas M8, and the Carolina Royal Ravens.

The key players going forward are the teams who usually sit in these prestigious spots: Atlanta FaZe, LA Thieves, and Toronto Ultra. They’re flanked by Breach, Surge, Rokkr, and Heretics. The favourite remains LA Thieves, the superteam on a white-hot streak at present, but if Call of Duty esports is known for anything, it’s upsets at these big events.

Will Atlanta FaZe make a grand elimination run to secure the four-peat?
