OpTic Gaming Secures HCS Trophy After 18 Months in Second Place

OpTic Gaming has finally claimed a new trophy in the Halo Championship Series, finding success at the organisation’s home Major in Arlington, Texas. It was a strenuous event that was hampered by a major power outage, but OpTic persevered, defeated the team’s nemesis (in more ways than one), and moved into the GF against Shopify Rebellion.

After a less-than-perfect pool stage and an ejection into the lower bracket during the final stage, OpTic Gaming mustered up a world of strength and went on a killer run. In the end, they produced wins over TSM, Infamous, Team Nemesis, Spacestation, FaZe, and finally, Shopify Rebellion to secure the trophy.

Long Time Coming

OpTic Gaming hasn’t secured a major trophy in the Halo Championship Series since September 2023 at the Fort Worth Major. Since then, the organisation has played second fiddle to all comers, winding up in the runner-up spot countless times against the likes of FaZe Clan and Spacestation.

Last year, the team hit second place no fewer than eight times, including at the Halo World Championship and every notable Major tournament. This win at Arlington is sheer validation for the organisation, which has put in umpteen amounts of effort in the last few months to sharpen up.

The 3-0 elimination over Spacestation, OpTic’s nemesis, was vindication enough for the newest OpTic roster.

OpTic Gaming now walks away from the Arlington Major $100,000 richer and with an earned qualification spot to the Dallas Open.

This is only the beginning of the 2025 HCS season. Now, teams will look to the Dallas Open in May, which will be followed by the Salt Lake City Major in August, and finally the FaZe-hosted Major (location TBC) in September.

All roads lead to Halo Worlds, of course.
