Ben Affleck is Esports’ Unlikeliest Fan and He Loves VALORANT

Ben Affleck recently appeared on Tarik’s stream, sitting down with the streamer and Rob Moore, the CEO of Sentinels. In an extended segment, he broke down his experiences with VALORANT, which was appropriate given that the stream was all about the VCT Americas.

Affleck revealed that he’s a VALORANT fan and he loves the wide world of esports. It’s no big secret that many celebrities and athletes adore esports, and Affleck was kind enough to give an extended breakdown of how that works in amongst a busy acting schedule.

‘It Amazes Me’

During the recent stream hosted by Tarik and Rob Moore, Ben Affleck took a seat on the couch and gushed over the next-level talent that represents the VCT scene:

He (Affleck’s son) got me into playing the game — and yet, I still look at this and think… It amazes me, you know?

When I play, I’m like, these guys have to be cheating. No-one is this good. They just rock me immediately, you know what I mean? And yet, it’s pretty impressive to watch people like, do something that I’ve tried to do and see how good they are and organised…

(Thanks to Esports Illustrated for the spot)

He talked about attending a recent VALORANT event and noted that it was ‘incredible’ being in a sold-out stadium packed with esports fan. In his words, some top-tier traditional sports teams can’t sell out a stadium.

He was referring to when he went to Los Angeles to watch the VALORANT Champs tournament unfold in person. He was captured on camera at the event, drawing cheers from the crowd. Elon Musk was also at the event, but people were less pleased to see him.

It was really impressive. It brought it home to me, how massive this whole state of affairs is.

Here’s the stream from the moment that Affleck arrives:

Of course, Affleck took an opportunity to promote his newest movie, The Accountant 2, aligning the first-person shooter with the action-packed flick. Moore also took the chance to gas Affleck up, saying that he’d seen him hit a few decent flicks while playing VALORANT that were worthy of a VCT setting.

At one point, Affleck’s son joined the chat and the pair took a deep dive into their in-game strategies and Agent picks.
