During the development of PRAGMATA, Capcom had assembled a task force of sorts. Described as the “Diana Police,” the group ensured that the game’s younger main character was neither too cute nor too annoying.
As Capcom continues to have a banner 2026, one of its best-selling games so far this year is the brand-new IP PRAGMATA. The game follows the protagonist, Hugh, and his android companion, Diana. Their relationship is similar to that of a father and daughter throughout the story, and the combat is even linked to their connection.
Now, the individuals who worked on the game are speaking out about its development and the steps they took to ensure Diana wouldn’t become too annoying a character.
Capcom Says Women Helped Define PRAGMATA’s Diana Character

Game producer Naoto Oyama and director Cho Yonghee were recently interviewed by Game*Spark. During the interview, Yonghee noted that the “Diana Police” was comprised entirely of women.
“Women are more likely to notice the ‘cunning’ of female characters than men, who might wonder, ‘What’s the difference?’ I think all the staff at the Diana Police were women,” he said.
Oyama added, “During development, defining the character’s personality was a challenge. Once the game is released, there’s a shared understanding among users that the character is like this, but during development, it’s expected to change, so even if you set a core character, there will be parts that deviate. The entire team works together to correct those deviations and create the realistic character images we see today.”
