More on Capcom’s Historic Fiscal Year
Looking ahead to the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2027, the publisher expects to achieve a 10th consecutive year of record-high profits, with anticipated net sales of 210,000 million yen and operating profit of 83,000 million yen. Capcom wrote more about its historic fiscal year in a press release.
“During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, Capcom’s core Digital Contents business drove results, delivering annual sales of 59.07 million units, an increase of over 7.1 million units from the previous year. Drivers of growth included the release of Resident Evil Requiem, the latest title in the series, as well as catalog titles sales led by the same series. Further, the company expanded earnings by leveraging its major brands in movies, character merchandise, and esports, while also carrying out steady store operations and promoting new store formats in its Arcade Operations business, and continuing to release smart pachislo machines in its Amusement Equipments business,” Capcom noted.
It’s already known that the next fiscal year includes the release of PRAGMATA, which has sold millions of copies. Also, the second season of The Devil May Cry series on Netflix began streaming on May 12.
Next year’s fiscal earnings will be affected by these measures. Other major factors in the 2027 fiscal year include Onimusha: Way of the Sword and the upcoming release of the Street Fighter movie, for which the company will pursue enhancements and user growth in Street Fighter 6.
Capcom Says AI Will Enhance Game Development Productivity
There’s also a mention of generative AI when discussing Capcom’s approach to their IP moving ahead. The company will continue its research and development of new technologies for game development.
“The Company continues to aggressively pursue growth investments aimed at building its development environment. This includes research and development into cutting-edge technologies such as its proprietary game engine, other development investments, and the use of generative AI to enhance the efficiency and productivity of the game development processes,” Capcom says.
Recently, Sony noted that they were all in on AI and working with Bandai Namco on generative AI and the future of PlayStation games. Learn more about that here.
