In a new earnings release, Pearl Abyss revealed that they are looking at ways to broaden Crimson Desert, with a DLC seemingly on the cards.
Crimson Desert has been receiving major updates since its launch, with the developers hard at work improving the gameplay experience. However, it seems their work doesn’t stop with just support, and an expansion could be on the horizon.
Crimson Desert DLC Seems Like a Possibility, Platform Expansion Mentioned As Well
During their latest earnings release, Pearl Abyss mentioned exploring a DLC for Crimson Desert in their ‘New Pipelines and Growth Strategy’ section. The developers first spoke about how their focus will remain on “enhancing user satisfaction and driving new sales through continuous updates”. The developers will also look at increasing the game’s presence through ‘Platform Expansion’ (maybe a Switch 2 port?).
The developers are also looking at ways to broaden the game, with DLC one of the routes they are exploring. However, more details will be shared “once the concrete plans are set.”
The developers also spoke about their upcoming games, DokeV and Plan 8, adding that they will maintain their goal of releasing a new title every 2-3 years. Keeping that goal in mind, resources will be prioritized for DokeV to accelerate development. DokeV is right now in the pre-production stage, while Plan 8 is in the conceptualization stage.
In other news, Pearl Abyss recently spoke about the game’s success, their approach to player feedback, and how they update the game accordingly. Additionally, the developers have explained that Crimson Desert is getting an extraction feature, but it’s not what you might expect. What are your thoughts on Crimson Desert receiving a DLC?
