Overwatch is Coming to Fortnite in an All-New Collab Event

Epic Games has unveiled the next major collaboration hitting Fortnite’s ecosystem in the very near future, and it’s centered around Overwatch. In a post on social media, Epic revealed a slew of Overwatch characters coming to Fortnite tomorrow, before inviting players to answer the call and protect the island.

The list of Overwatch characters coming to Fortnite represents some of the hero shooter’s most popular creations thus far.

Which Overwatch Characters Are Coming to Fortnite?

In the short trailer posted on social media by Epic Games and the Fortnite team, the upcoming Overwatch collab was revealed. Here’s the clip, which is a short one at just thirty seconds:

As the post suggests, users will be able to join D.Va, Genji, Tracer, and Mercy from tomorrow, May 14. It’s not clear in what capacity they’ll land on the island, but it’s safe to assume it’s a little more than just a cosmetics-based crossover event. In the short trailer and visuals, we see elements of Overwatch maps, so the island will likely undergo drastic changes.

It was back in February that the Fortnite x Overwatch crossover event was leaked, with Shiina revealing that those four characters would be joining Fortnite at some point. That leak has now materialized as fact, as Epic is preparing to bring the Overwatch line-up into the battle royale world.

Earlier this year, Overwatch underwent something of a resurgence, with users claiming the game was back after experiencing a somewhat protracted downturn amid a drop in hero shooter sentiments. Earlier this year, player counts racked up, and the game dropped on Switch 2 (even though it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Nintendo).
