Treyarch revealed a new teaser for Black Ops 7, starring the primary antagonist of the upcoming game, Raul Menendez.
In the Black Ops 2 Campaign, you had the decision to either kill or spare Menendez. If you decided to kill him, Cordis Die, a revolutionary movement group, led by the villain, released a video on YouTube revealing his death.
It wasn’t just in the Campaign, however, as the video was officially released on YouTube on June 20, 2013. Menendez returns in Black Ops 7 as the primary antagonist, and Treyarch followed up on the fictional assassination date with a new video on the exact date, 12 years later.
Black Ops 7 Cordis Die Teaser Explained
In the short teaser video, titled “The Lesson,” Menendez says, “2025 was just the beginning. A necessary first step. Once again, you shall know fear.”
In BO2, Menendez’s assassination is the canonical outcome and leads to his outraged followers rioting in Washington, D.C. and burning down the White House. It’s unclear if Menendez will remain dead in BO7, or if he will somehow make a return..
It has already been confirmed that BO7 follows the events of BO2 and is set around 2035. Menendez still has his fingerprints all over the story, but the Campaign follows the BO2 protagonist, David Mason, as he leads a new group of Black Ops operatives against a new foe. Leaks also suggest that Frank Woods will return as well.
In other FPS news, Gears of War: Reloaded confirmed a second multiplayer beta weekend, a Battlefield 6 Campaign clip leaked online, and Battlefield Labs playtests reportedly moved from pre-alpha to alpha.
