Activision and Treyarch Games have confirmed that Black Ops 7 will not have jetpacks despite previous rumors.
The announcement came during today’s Call of Duty podcast, where Activision finally cleared up the rumors on the future of movement in its next title. Previously, it was rumored that jetpacks, or at least some form of new movement system would be returning to the series as references where found within recent Call of Duty game files.
However, Activision finally cleared the air and announced that the game will just have “an evolution of omnimovement.” Black Ops 7 will be set “30 years before Black Ops 3”, so no jet-packs, they said.
Last month, dataminers found that wallrunning would be returning to Call of Duty, which could be the “evolution” that Activision disclosed today., or at the very least, be a form of wallrunning.
In fact, the wallrunning code was that complete that some players managed to add it into Black Ops 6, which made for some weird online clips. You can watch one of the wallrunning clips below:
Players are somehow WALL RUNNING on #BlackOps6 Warzone even though it’s rumoured for COD 2025 ⁉️⁉️😭
As for if jetpacks will ever return to Call of Duty is unclear, but playyers seem divided on adding more advanced movement to the game. On the rumors of wallrunning, some players where excited for the change, while others felt that the change wasn’t needed and moved away from the boots on the ground formula.
Activision also confirmed during the podcast that the wingsuit clip from the Call of Duty Black Ops 7 teaser trailer was from the co-op campaign, which showed four players jumping into the map, which is also now confirmed to be Avalon.
