A series of new datamines have uncovered that wall running is currently slated to return to Call of Duty in Black Ops 7.
The leaks of the datamines were posted by X (formerly Twitter) user @CODWarfareForum and are the first concrete signs of proof of wall running coming to the came follow a slew of rumors last year.
You can see all of the datamine screenshots below (likely to be soon DMCA’d by Activision):
Wall Running confirmed for #Blackops7 🫤
As expected, the finding has already become a huge topic of debate in the Call of Duty community, with players voicing both the pros and cons of wall running. One topic of debate, though, is whether this is a means for Call of Duty to slowly re-introduce more skill gap movement, in particular Jetpacks.
The “Jetpack era” of Call of Duty started in 2014 with Advanced Warfare and stopped in 2017 with Infinity Ward’s Infinite Warfare, with the franchise going back to a traditional playstyle with Sledgehammer Games’ WWII release. While initially praised, Jet Packs slowly took their toll on players, with many wanting the return of a more boots on the ground approach.
Already Added to Black Ops 6
In a bizarre twist, dataminers have also managed to take the findings of wall running in the next game one step further by somehow adding it to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Several clips of wall running in the game are now appearing across several different social media channels, which show that the wall running feature looks very similar to that in Black Ops 4.
You can watch a snippet of gameplay below:
Kinda looks like BO3 movement with how you can chain jumps back onto the same wall. Just without the micro thrusters. Might pull a BO3, and have the remakes be made with wallrunning in mind. Otherwise, this WON’T work lmao
As for if wall running will actually make it into Black Ops 7 remains to be seen, as Activision and the developers could presumably eassily cut the feature if they see the negative reaction.
