According to a new claim, Microsoft Store is testing how to integrate Steam into the platform.
A new video by eXtas1s on YouTube, spotted by TheGamer, discusses Steam Integration in the Microsoft Store. The insider stated, “Microsoft has just officially added the Steam application to the support software for its devices.” The application can be found under the name ‘Steam Developer Beta’ and is only available to “certain employees” and people who support or develop things for Microsoft.
The leaker added that the Steam integration in the Microsoft Store will provide players a smoother experience when running the application in Windows environments and in “future Xbox environments”. The insider also spoke about how the next-generation of Xbox will be more in the direction of a PC than a console, and the development for this generation will also be based on “PC environments”.
eXtas1s explained that these PC environments would require Steam integration, and players will have access to the platform directly from the Microsoft Store on their next-gen Xbox console. The aim is for players to have access to all their games across all platforms, seamlessly transitioning between a PC, handheld, or console.
On the topic of Microsoft and Steam, an official blog post from Xbox featured a tab labelled ‘Steam’ in its mock-up user interface earlier this year. However, it was removed promptly once fans started to notice. What are your thoughts on the Microsoft Store reportedly testing Steam integration?
