Earlier this week, a rumor began to circulate regarding Eve Online developer CCP Games and its parent company Pearl Abyss. According to a Korean outlet, Pearl Abyss had reached out to a number of companies to gauge interest in buying CCP Games.
This report came from the same outlet that claimed Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert was set to release around November 2, which the company denied.

Insider Gaming immediately reached out to Pearl Abyss for clarification on the rumor. The company supplied a statement that, while not a complete denial that it could be interested in selling the Eve Online developer, there was nothing happening right now.
“While we regularly review various strategies to enhance our global competitiveness, no decisions have been made, and we have nothing to announce at this time,” the studio told Insider Gaming.
Pearl Abyss first acquired CCP Games in 2018 for $425 million. Since the acquisition, CCP Games has continued to release updates and support for EVE Online while working on other titles such as EVE Vanguard, EVE: Frontier, and EVE Galaxy Conquest.
CCP Games has declined to comment on the rumors.
