Xbox Game Pass continues to be one of the most cost-efficient ways to play a variety of games. If you’re on the hunt for a new title to dive into this month, take a look at our guide.
From major first-party releases on day one to gems of the past you may have forgotten about, Xbox Game Pass has it all. However, with such a staggering list of games to dive into, it can be difficult to decide what should be next on your hit list.
We’re here to help though, with five recommendations of games to jump into.
The Best Games on Xbox Game Pass (May 2025)
Xbox’s Game Pass roster shifts and changes with every month, with titles being removed along with some being added. Here’s our top five games to play in May 2025.
Revenge of The Savage Planet

The sequel to 2020’s Journey to The Savage Planet, Revenge of The Savage Planet launched day one on Xbox Game Pass on May 8 and is the perfect title to keep you entertained this month, especially if you’re looking for a light-hearted adventure to pass the time.
A switch to third-person gameplay has proven controversial among players,, but does assist with the platforming adventure that is spread out. The key selling point, however, is the humor, although it very much scrapes the bottom of the barrel on toilet humor.
A feature I’m personally most excited for is the ability to capture creatures, which scratches my Pokémon itch as I impatiently wait for Pokémon Legends: Z-A later this year.
Doom: The Dark Ages

Another major day one Xbox Game Pass launch in May, Doom: The Dark Ages releases on May 13 and Game Pass subscribers won’t have to pay a penny extra to enjoy the title, which is the eighth main entry in the beloved and long-running franchise.
The Dark Ages focuses on a techno-medieval setting, with major feature additions being the ability to pilot vehicles for the first time in the series, including a cybernetic dragon. Alongside this, expect the standard blood, gore, and powerful weapons we’ve come to expect from the Doom franchise.
Doom: The Dark Ages is one of the biggest releases of the year so far, so don’t miss out.
GTA Online

The disappointing news that Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed until next year comes as a huge blow but, fortunately, there’s still plenty to keep you occupied in the world of GTA Online—especially if, like me, you’ve neglected the title for a while and haven’t played the latest updates.
I’ve been having a blast running my Salvage Yard operation and completing the Dr. Dre missions, both of which provide significant amounts of cash. This is a welcome relief considering how expensive everything in GTA Online is and the good news is, if you want to save up for something in particular, it won’t take too much effort.
I highly recommend diving back into GTA Online to see what there is to offer, especially if you need to scratch that GTA itch ahead of GTA 6 next year.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Expedition 33 has been one of the biggest hits of 2025 so far, boasting an all-time Steam peak of 145k in the last few days, and Game Pass subscribers can enjoy the adventure without having to spend a penny.
The turn-based RPG approach may be off-putting to some, and admittedly,y I’d have had my reservations in the past, but I thoroughly enjoyed Marvel’s Midnight Suns and Baldur’s Gate 3, which opened my eyes to a different style of game. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to dive into Expedition 33 yet but it is near the top of my wish list.
I’ve only heard positive things about Expedition 33 so far, and I definitely plan to give it a go later this month.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

Over two decades in the making, Oblivion Remastered brings players back to Tamriel and, for those like me who dived into the franchise for the first time when Skyrim first landed, Oblivion Remastered lets you peer behind the curtain at the events leading up to Skyrim.
Oblivion has long been supported by the passionate Bethesda modding community, showing that there was a strong appetite for a remaster, and the fact that the title is available for free with a Game Pass subscription is a major boost.
If you’re on the hunt for a sprawling RPG adventure filled with hours of side quests to distract you and an entire living world to explore, look no further than Oblivion Remastered.
