Sparrow has a unique skillset that sets him apart from other characters in Apex Legends. Here is everything you need to know about Legend and how to utilize his Ultimate, Tactical, and Passive abilities.
For the first time since May 2024, Apex Legends introduced a new hero in Season 25. Sparrow’s addition is exciting, but it doesn’t come without controversy. In April, Respawn cancelled two games, let go of 100 employees, and EA laid off an additional 300-400 workers.
One of those layoffs included Heather Woodward, who helped write and develop the character Sparrow. Woodard revealed that EA sent her a promo email for the character she wrote before she was let go. So, while fans should celebrate the new Legend, it’s essential to understand the context.
Every Sparrow Ability Explained

Respawn Entertainment revealed how each ability works in a deep dive blog.
Abilities
| Name | Type | Description |
| Double Jump | Passive | Press jump while in the air to jump again. You can also press jump while climbing to launch Sparrow up walls to gain height quickly. He can also carry additional arrows and explosive arrows for the Bocek. |
| Tracker Dart | Tactical | Shoot a tracker from your gauntlet to reveal enemies who walk within its line of sight. Tracker darts can be placed on most surfaces, and enemies will be revealed by a trail that can be seen through walls. If any enemy is over 40 meters away there will be a distance marker over their head. These darts can also be used to activate Survey Beacons from afar. |
| Stinger Bolt | Ultimate | Shoot a large arrow that anchors where it lands. Once charged up, it will damage anyone within its range, causing damage and slowing any opponent it hits. Getting behind cover, leaving the zone, or shooting the arrow are the options enemies have when they find themselves caught in Sparrow’s ultimate. |

How to Play Sparrow
Sparrow is the perfect character to get aggressive and flank enemies with. Mobility isn’t an issue because his passive ability allows you to rapidly climb walls and jump twice to catch enemies off guard or escape a gunfight.
Additionally, the Tactical ability reveals an enemy’s location, and if they are marked, you can see their trail through walls. Once you get into the perfect position to make a play, the Ultimate ability shoots a charged arrow, which damages and slows down enemies within its radius.
Using all these abilities in tandem will make it possible to wipe teams before they know what hit them.
