ARC Raiders can enjoy the upgraded PSSR feature from tomorrow, April 28, through update 1.26.
PlayStation announced an upgraded version of the PS5 Pro’s PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) earlier this year, with games like Resident Evil Requiem, Crimson Desert, Control, and more adopting the new tech. Now, the latest addition is the breakout extraction shooter from Embark Studios, ARC Raiders.
ARC Raiders Upgraded PSSR Improvements Revealed
A new post on the PlayStation Blog reveals all the new upgraded PSSR improvements that PS5 Pro players will see with ARC Raiders. Firstly, players will have a sharper and more stable image with less flickering and shimmer. The new PSSR will also help “move geometry” more accurately than traditional upscaling techniques, which means players will see better reconstruction of objects in motion, such as foliage swaying in the wind or drones passing at high speed.
Moreover, ghosting artifacts and translucent effects have been “substantially reduced.” Players will observe that the rain looks cleaner. The Engine Lead at Embark Studios, Robert Kihl, stated that the “improved PSSR brings significant improvements to image quality, especially in challenging scenarios with many small details in motion.” The upgraded PSSR update will create a significant difference between the PS5 and PS5 Pro versions of ARC Raiders. The developers have also confirmed that the PS5 version will “continue to benefit from TSR upscaling”.
In other news, Embark Studios has published a string of changes coming to the Trials mode in ARC Raiders, and has also unveiled the new reward outfit. Additionally, Escape from Tarkov’s Nikita Buyanov dubbed ARC Raiders an ‘extraction shooter for casual people’. What are your thoughts on ARC Raiders receiving the upgraded PSSR update tomorrow?
