When NASCAR 25 launches this fall, it’ll offer a number of multiplayer features for players. That said, what it offers in year one will be viewed as a mixed bag for some fans.
During the latest episode of Insider Gaming’s Developer Spotlight series, NASCAR 25 producer Matt Lewis was asked about the game’s multiplayer. Will it have local multiplayer? What about private lobbies?
Lewis said that the team made the “tough decision” to cut local multiplayer in order to focus on other aspects of the game.

What will be there, albeit without a spectator mode, are private lobbies for those who choose to run leagues. Regarding the spectator mode for broadcasts and esports, Lewis say that it’s not in year one, but it is something that’s on the team’s list for addition to the franchise.
“I would put that in the future features bucket where we need to get the core right for year one, and then really figure out how we expand,” Lewis said. “I know there’s a lot of leagues. I know there’s a lot of passion for just generally league tools, right? And administrator tools and things like that. And it’s, it’s something that we have on all of our whiteboards and, and have some designs for, but not for year one.”
Lewis added that NASCAR 25 will feature special events for players at various tracks. The game will also include various “standard” multiplayer features players would expect that will be fully revealed as the game gets closer to launch.
NASCAR 25 launches this fall for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
