More Madden 26 Features Include Presentation and Franchise Mode Updates

EA Sports has released the first trailer for Madden 26 as well as a deeper look into some of the new features coming to this year’s game.

In a post on the game’s website, the developers dive into what players can expect when they load up the latest in the long-running franchise. From new weather dynamics to franchise mode updates to presentation and more, there’s plenty for Madden fans to be hopeful for in Madden 26.

Madden 26 Features

Starting with the gameplay, Madden 26 introduces a number of updates with the goal to enhance the on-field experience for players. That starts with real NFL data integration from over a decade of player data. A new “QB DNA” system brings over 500 new animations and personalized mechanics for each quarterback, making stars like Josh Allen and Joe Burrow play and feel unique. On the sidelines, the new “Coach DNA” system uses machine learning to replicate head coach tendencies, with dynamic suggestions, playcalling, and personality-driven decisions that mirror real NFL coaches like Dan Campbell and Nick Sirianni.

Making It Tougher On The Field

Moving on to the game’s weather, it now players a bigger role than ever before in Madden 26. The new system will impact player visibility, stamina, general movement, physics, and more in every game. There was a tease of dynamic weather in the trailer that changes throughout a game, but that wasn’t mentioned in the blog post by EA.

The “Wear & Tear” system that debuted in College Football 25 last season is also making its way to Madden this year. The “Wear & Tear” system will affect player performance over time, and dynamic substitutions let you make situational changes without pausing the game. Madden 26 also adds highly requested new depth chart positions, including Edge, Nose Tackle, Long Snapper, and a “Gadget” role for two-way players like Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter.

Lastly with gameplay, EA is touting “foundational football” updates across the board. These updates to the game focus on core mechanics like blocking, zone coverage, and player movement. The goal is to feel more realistic to the player and situation while giving more control to players in various situations with new custom defensive zones.

Game Modes and Presentation Changes

The biggest modes in the game for many players, Franchise and Superstar, are getting more love and needed improvements in Madden 26. First, Franchise Mode is getting new coach customization options, a “Coach Abilities” metagame, new play sheets that allow adding extra plays to your playbook for a specific game, and wear and tear management.

There’s also new halftime shows and weekly recaps coming to the game featuring Scott Hanson alongside new broadcast packages for Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night games. What wasn’t mentioned for Franchise Mode was the ability to import draft classes from College Football.

Superstar mode once again includes carrying your College Football player to the pros, though there was no mention if it’s finally possible to port from Xbox Series or PlayStation 5 to PC. Superstar mode will include weekly storylines, career chapters, and more relationship building through a new “Sphere of Influence” system. Lastly, with Superstar Showcase, there will be live events during the year and online Head-to-Head minigames.

Finally, regarding presentation, Madden 26 will feature team-specific stadium run outs, mascots, pre-game traditions, crowd chants, and more. Coaches will look more authentic along with uniform options that include stadium updates to match the uniforms both on the field and within the graphics. The stadiums will also have real graphics packages from every team’s stadium.

Madden 26 launches on August 14 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
