Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ sequel announcement may arrive next month at Anime Expo 2025.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners Sequel Could be Revealed at Anime Expo 2025
Spotted by The Gamer, the official Cyberpunk Edgerunners account on X (formerly Twitter) has just informed players that they will be attending Anime Expo 2025 next month in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted between July 3 and 6, and the creators have teased that “the next datadrop’s almost here.” Many players speculate that the creators are teasing a sequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners with this post.
In September 2024, Netflix released a 20-second teaser titled “Netflix x CDPR x Cyberpunk | Special Announcement.” However, the video provided no information besides the words ‘Return to Night City’. A couple of months later, in November 2024, CD Projekt Red’s Chief Financial Officer confirmed that “another animation project set in the Cyberpunk universe” would be released on Netflix.
It is impossible to tell what the sequel will be about right now, but we do know that Night City will be involved. At the same time, with Cyberpunk 2 entering pre-production, it will be interesting to see if they can tie in some aspects with the Edgerunners sequel, maybe adding the ‘Chicago Gone Wrong‘ city. The anime adaptation was instrumental in helping attract more players to the original title, and one would hope that the sequel will have a similar impact. However, this is just speculation; we will have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.
