Tailing Missions Have Been ‘Revamped’ in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is a glorious game, but tailing and eavesdropping missions are simply not glorious game design, and it’s a style of mission structure that needed to go away a long time ago—even before pirates began invading various shores.

Leaks have suggested from the beginning that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a remake, not a remaster. As such, this means significant changes over the original, not limited to a reworked Animus and a lack of DLC or Multiplayer. Some of these alterations might prove divisive, but improved tailing and eavesdropping can’t be anything other than the euphoria of stumbling upon treasure and booty.

Out of all the leaks that Insider Gaming has brought to you about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, this might be the best of the lot!

During the Resynced presentation that was sent to us, something stood out above the glorious new graphics and litany of new content and upgrades: Mission design changes.

As narrated by the returning Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan:

“Tailing and eavesdropping missions have also been revamped. In the original game, getting discovered meant instant desynchronization. Yes, this was a pretty big pinpoint we remember. Now, the action continues, your objctives remain, but your target will react, and you must adapt accordingly.”

The gameplay footage clearly shows the intended targeting, walking along, and Kenway jumping out and assassinating one of the unsuspecting soldiers. There’s no desynchronization, and all that happens is you battle the remaining enemies.

It begs the question as to what’s to stop you from doing this straight away?

I guess you deprive yourself of some dialogue, but at the same time, you can save some time and get to the action quicker. Either way, it’s a superb quality of life improvement and shows that Ubisoft is committed to making the most fluid and painless Black Flag reimagining possible.

Could this be the best quality of life change possible that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced could make? Is there anything else you’re hoping Ubisoft tinkers with before launch? Share your suggestions through the Insider Gaming Discord and discuss them with the team.

We have more Resynced news, such as Collector’s Edition goodies being revealed, as well as the first leaked footage from the game.
