Whether you love them or hate them, the modern-day Animus sections have been present in AC for nearly two decades, and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced isn’t making them walk the plank.
The bridge between Assassin’s Creed 3 and 4 saw a continuation of the current-day Animus sections, only this time, Desmond Miles was replaced by an Abstergo employee. The Animus is very much a marmite aspect of Assassin’s Creed, and the Resynced showcase confirmed it’s also getting a fresh coat of paint.
Animus Confirmed For Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

The leaked Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced presentation is how we learned about the game’s release date, Black Flag Resynced not including DLC or multiplayer, and how the Animus sections have been tweaked for the remake.
However, the full showcase has been broadcast for all of you to see!
One of the devs speaking about the game said:
Today, the modern day has evolved. For Black Flag Resynced, we have approached it in a way that focuses on Edward’s journey, while still connecting his memories to the Animus. The modern day in Black Flag Resynced will feature new moments that focus on Edward’s internal struggle.”
Check out the showcase here for a glimpse into the reshaped story elements.
The original Black Flag saw you take control of an Abstergo worker as you explored the facility, worked at a desk, and more. Many players still didn’t like the disconnect, taking you away from the main swashbuckling gameplay everyone was eager to enjoy.
It’s unclear if we’ll be controlling an Abstergo employee or even revisiting the facility at all. What we do know is that Resynced will definitely include ties to the Animus and modern-day sections, and here’s hoping they’ve been streamlined in a way that doesn’t detract from enjoying Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
It really is each to their own where the Animus and modern-day are concerned. Are you a fan? Or do you want Ubisoft to steer the ship as far away from them as possible? Let us know your thoughts by posting in the Insider Gaming Discord Server.

After they killed of Desmond, the modern day parts where pointless. One thing shadows got right was no modern day parts, it was a true assassin’s creed game in the past only as they all should be. Then one day have a full modern day assassin’s creed game
My issue isn’t the existence, size, or involvement of the animus sections. It’s that they completely abandoned the buildup towards an outright conflict between assassins and Abstergo in the modern Era. That’s more than a decade of buildup only to be sidelined as just a source of bonus lore.
I lost interest in the modern world sections after they killed Desmond off. I had fully expected him to keep learning skills from different assassins through the Animus until they took the fight to Abstergo directly, but instead, they cut his character development short and wasted an entire plot line.
