Whether you know you need to update your PS5 the next time you boot it up to play something, or you want to know what the April 23 PS5 26.03-13.20.00 update has added or changed, Insider Gaming has the patch notes for you.
It goes without saying that this is not the most extensive firmware update Sony has ever dropped for a PlayStation console—or any of them, in fact.
The April 23 update is a minor one, making a few changes, and even then, these changes are unlikely to make a noticeable difference to the majority of the PS5 audience. Nonetheless, read on for the full patch notes dropped by Sony for you PS5 owners.
PS5 April 23 26.03-13.20.00 Patch Notes Details

The emphasis and focus of the April 23 PS5 update is on communication. If you’re someone who regularly uses the PS5’s built-in text chat function, you have some new QOL changes to use.
The patch notes don’t affect performance, UI, or anything major.
Here’s the full extent of the 26.03-13.20.00 update:
- “We’ve added more emojis that you can use for message reactions.
- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.”
Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
It’s a minuscule update, and there could be some extra changes omitted from the patch notes, but we’ll have to wait and see if this is the case.
Minor updates, such as this, appeal to smaller aspects of the PS5 community. What does Sony fundamentally need to change on the PS5 moving forward? Is there one feature you’re literally begging the PlayStation 5 to have? Let us know through the Insider Gaming Discord.
