XBOX CEO recently discussed how things could change in 2026, with the company having to look at different business models according to current market conditions.
There have been some massive changes across the XBOX brand since we saw the new CEO take the helm. Most recently, we saw XBOX console exclusivity return with two new games; other changes have also been observed as part of the rebranding. It seems like a lot more is yet to come this year.
XBOX CEO Discusses How the Console Market is Changing
In a recent interview with Fortune Conversations (as reported by Windows Central), Xbox CEO Asha Sharma discussed the emergence of new business models in the console industry. When asked about what is being considered that wasn’t feasible five years ago, Sharma stated that it is “hard to tell” because she wasn’t part of the business back then. However, she emphasized that they will continue to explore “new business models.”
Sharma elaborated that in the console business, the requirement is not just “the most premium, high-performance console in the world.” The market is changing, where “we’ve reached a point where it will be hard to imagine that mass audiences can afford 1000s of dollars to spend on a console generation.” Sharma concluded that players could begin seeing “radically different business models that we never expected start to come into orbit later this year.”
In other news, XBOX CEO Asha Sharma has revealed that more will be done with Game Pass this summer. Additionally, Xbox has announced a brand-new limited edition Xbox Series X to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary during the Xbox Showcase.
