Weapon Sling Gadget Nerfed Ahead of Battlefield 6 Open Beta

Battlefield Studios listened to community feedback and responded by nerfing the Assault classes’ Weapon Sling gadget in Battlefield 6.

By default, there are no class restrictions in Battlefield 6, meaning all weapons, gadgets, and throwables are available regardless of your class. However, the devs introduced class-defining categories to incentivize players to use specific weapons.

Each class has a signature weapon category, signature trait, and signature gadgets. For example, if you use an Assault Rifle with the Assault class or a Sniper Rifle with the Recon class, there are benefits. The Weapon Sling is a signature gadget for the Assault class, and it allows you to use two primary weapons. Based on feedback collected from Battlefield Labs, the development team learned that the gadget was too strong.

Battlefield 6 Weapon Sling Gadget Nerf Explained

Battlefield Studios announced, “Following feedback from Battlefield Labs participants, it was clear that players felt the earliest iterations of the Weapon Sling Gadget were intruding upon Class Identity with its ability to use Double Assault Rifles, or any other Signature Weapon, and we agreed.”

So in response, you will no longer be able to use Assault Rifles, LMGs, and Sniper Rifles as a second weapon with the Weapon Sling. Carbines, DMRs, and Shotguns can still be used as a second weapon.

Nerfing the gadget is a significant blow to the Assault class, but it will still be one of the most popular choices because, as we saw during the multiplayer reveal stream, Shotguns appear to be some of the best weapons in the game. Within a few meters, Shotguns one-shot kill enemies, and they can still two-shot kill enemies from medium-range engagements.

Alternatively, pairing an SMG and a Carbine or DMR can provide a good balance of short and long-range capabilities. Some players still believe the gadget should be removed entirely, but the nerf at least makes it less overpowered.

Was this nerf enough? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Forum.
