In what might be the least surprising news you’ve read in a while, Mario Kart World has been a success for Nintendo. The company announced on Friday that sales of Mario Kart World, the 11th mainline game in the franchise, had reached 5.63 million in its first month.
The sales put it nearly on par with the Nintendo Switch 2 itself, which sold 5.82 million units in the same time span (as of June 30).
Based on those numbers, that gives Mario Kart World a 96.7% attach rate (percentage of secondary products sold in relation to the primary product). The game is available both standalone for $80 or as part of a bundle with the console, saving players who want both the Switch 2 and the game $30.
With it’s successful launch, Mario Kart World is the second-fastest selling game in the series’ 33-year history. The only game that sold fast was Mario Kart Wii at 6.42M copies at release, which happened when the Nintendo Wii had already been on the market for over a year.
