Ubisoft has announced during its end of year financial earnings that it’s made the decision to delay some of its major IPs and games to improve on game quality.
The news, which was announced today was said to be made because of the benefit the company has seen from delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which has become one of the company’s highest-rated games in the past decade.
In the financial report, it said, “After a thorough review of its pipeline that took place from October to December, the Group decided to provide additional development time to some of its biggest productions in order to create the best conditions for success. This decision has already been beneficial to the quality of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As a consequence, FY2026-27 and FY2027-28 will see significant growth vs. FY2025-26 on the back of strong content coming from the Group’s largest brands.”
According to our sources and past reports, Insider Gaming understands that this includes the Assassin’s Creed pipeline and the highly anticipated next instalment of the Far Cry series, which has internally been pushed to late 2026.
Ubisoft “biggest productions” likely also includes the Splinter Cell Remake under the codename “North”, and the next mainline Ghost Recon game under the codename “Ovr”.
The announcement implies that the next year for Ubisoft could be fairly limited in terms of its billion-dollar IPs, however, it’s understand that Ubisoft currently have several smaller experiences around these games in development.
For example, Assassin’s Creed has two “smaller” games in development; a multiplayer offering codenamed Invictus and a remake of Black Flag codenamed Obsidian. In addition, another smaller experience for Rainbow Six is in the works codenamed Slice and Dice”.
As of yet, Ubisoft is yet to comment on which games will release in the next 12 months, but according to some sources at the company, they believe that the short term loss will eventually lead to a long term game with quality titles.
