Bethesda head Todd Howard has no plans to retire anytime soon.
The 55-year-old game director has been with Bethesda since 1994, when he joined the company as a producer. Since then, he has risen through the ranks to become the studio’s head director. But after 32 years with the company, just how much longer does Howard see himself continuing?
Todd Howard Has No Plans To Leave Bethesda
Speaking recently with Jason Schreier, Howard was asked about retirement and if he ever thinks about it. Howard said that there were times in the past when he thought about what retirement would look like, but that’s not the case anymore.
“The truth is, there was a period of time a while back where I pondered, what does it look like?” he said. “Not is it imminent, but what does it look like? And I no longer do.”
Howard says the work currently being done at Bethesda gives him the motivation and desire to keep working.
“I just love it,” Howard said. “I love working with these people. It’s really not something I think about. Some folks in our industry, that are a little older than me, they’re just making great stuff too. So, it’s not something I’ve been thinking about.”
Bethesda currently has multiple projects in the works. Not only is the studio deep in development on The Elder Scrolls 6, but Fallout 5 is in preproduction. It was also confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development, along with more content for Starfield.
