NY Court Approves Take-Two Subpoenas Microsoft and Discord Over GTA 6 Leaks

A New York court approved Take-Two subpoenas seeking Microsoft and Discord records as the company tries to identify alleged GTA 6 leakers, CYBERLEEK.

In the latest update on this week’s biggest story, a New York judge has approved subpoenas for Take-Two Interactive, seeking information from Microsoft and Discord to identify users allegedly connected to the hacking group behind CYBERLEEK’s leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage. The filings note that the GTA developer is seeking account data linked to materials posted on Discord and GitHub.

In the latest update on this week’s biggest story, a New York judge has approved subpoenas for Take-Two Interactive, seeking information from Microsoft and Discord to identify users allegedly connected to the hacking group behind CYBERLEEK’s leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage. The filings note that the GTA developer is seeking account data linked to materials posted on Discord and GitHub.

ORDER GRANTING
PETITIONER TAKE-TWO INTERACTIVE SOFTWARE, INC.’S
RULE 7.1 DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

This matter comes before the Court upon the ex parte application of petitioner Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. along with the Declaration of Dale Cendali and supporting documents for the signing of a Subpoena directing Discord, Inc. to produce the identity of entities or persons believed to be infringing on the copyright of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.

Having considered the Declaration and all documents submitted in support of the instant application, the Court finds good reason to issue an order directing the clerk to issue said subpoena and it is therefore:

ORDERED that the clerk of this Court shall issue the Subpoena…

XBOX’s Chief Technology Officer, Scott Van Vliet, issued a statement pledging full support to help Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive protect their IP.

CYBERLEEK had previously begun charging money for a poll asking what content players would like to see leak. The entity’s website eventually stated that it was open to ad placements in future leaks, allegedly requesting up to $164,000 in cryptocurrency just to get in contact to discuss these arrangements.
