T1 threw away their lead against Dplus Kia (DK) and lost yet again as the League of Legends titans continue to struggle in the LCK.
The reigning LoL World Champions, who’ve won the last three iterations of the international tournament, find themselves barely in the Playoff places, tied for sixth with a 2-3 record.
T1 being inconsistent during the regular season is nothing new, but the last few performances have some fans starting to worry.
T1 Lose 2-1 To DK
In the opening match, Mun ‘Oner’ Hyeon-jun tried to repeatedly gank top to help Choi ‘Doran’ Hyeon-joon but failed multiple times. In one case, DK’s Jeon ‘Siwoo’ Si-woo survived with just 24 health.
Meanwhile, T1 botlaner Kim ‘Peyz’ Su-hwan kept getting dived alone under his turret as DK racked up a healthy lead.
From there, DK executed well and snowballed their advantage in Dragon Soul to take the lead in the best-of-three.
But T1 then tied up the series after winning across all three lanes in a much better performance. Though they almost let the game slip through their fingers.
It looked like T1 was about to throw the game at the end during a sketchy Dragon fight.
However, a perfectly timed Zhonyas by Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok distracted three enemies at once and allowed Oner to clean up and secure the ace for the win.
Faker Mistakes Undo Keria’s Hard Work
Then, in the decider, T1’s bot lane earned first blood for the second match in a row with Peyz boldly flashing forward on his Mel after hitting level 2.
That unlocked the rest of the map for Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok’s Pyke as he then successfully ganked both mid and top before the five-minute mark.
Keria then ganked top another three times in the early game, finding takedowns every time as T1 surmounted a significant early lead.
One particularly impressive play saw Keria steal a minion to hit level six, then immediately flash and ult to secure another kill.
However, Faker got caught twice in quick succession, and DK started to find their way back into the game.
Pyke is a champion that quickly falls off and becomes much trickier to pilot, which allowed DK to win most of the team fights.
Keria was playing out of his mind and made yet another incredible play to win a skirmish for T1, yet his team still couldn’t get a foothold on the game.
Faker got picked off a couple of more times, which allowed DK both Dragon and Baron to tie up the gold.
At this point, Keria’s Pyke was getting deleted as soon as he engaged, which left T1 without any tools to win fights.
This allowed DK to complete a full comeback and win the series in what could be a crucial result for them.
