Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is returning at this year’s Esports World Cup, taking place from July 21 to July 25 during Week 3 of the event.
The auto-battler by Riot Games will feature at the Saudi Arabia-based event for the third consecutive year.
Last year’s event was won by Weibo Gaming, who went undefeated throughout the entire tournament and defeated giant killers Virtus.Pro 3-1 in the final.
This year’s TFT EWC tournament will feature a $500k prize pool and will see the return of its unique team-based format.
TFT Esports World Cup Prize Pool

The prize breakdown for this year’s TFT tournament has not been revealed as of yet.
However, considering it features the same $500k prize pool as last year, the 16-team tournament will likely feature the same distributions we saw last year:
- 1st — $150k
- 2nd — $70k
- 3rd-4th — $40k
- 5-8th — $25k
- 9th-12th — $15k
- 13th-16th — $10k
There will also be more money available this year with an increased prize pool of $30m for the Club Championship.
This initiative financially rewards the esports organisations that perform best across multiple titles at this year’s Esports World Cup.
TFT Esports World Cup Format
While TFT is usually a game played solo, the Esports World Cup turns the auto-battler into a roster-based esport with teams of four competing against each other.
This year, the format will be as follows:
- Group Stage: August 11 – 13
- 16 teams are split into two even groups of eight teams.
- For each group, eight teams compete in a Double-Elimination (GSL) format.
- All matches are best-of-three.
- Top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs.
- Playoffs: August 14 – 15
- Eight teams qualified from the Group Stage compete in the Single-Elimination format.
- All matches (excl. Grand Final) are best-of-three.
- Grand Final is best-of-five.
- All matches (excl. Grand Final) are best-of-three.
- Eight teams qualified from the Group Stage compete in the Single-Elimination format.
Who Will Compete At The TFT Esports World Cup?
So far, only one TFT team has qualified for this year’s Esports World Cup, and that’s reigning champions Weibo Gaming.
The champions receive an automatic invitation and will be keeping an eye on the qualifiers to see who they will defend the title against.

The following Qualifiers will directly decide the other TFT competitors:
- The top three TFT teams from Road To EWC 26: Online Qualifier – Americas
