When Will Pokémon Champions Add More Pokémon?

Pokémon Champions released with a limited number of Pokémon and items available to make it more beginner-friendly.

Many players have been learning how to play VGC for the first time now that there is no need to grind for IVs, EVs etc.

The limited roster has led to a fresh meta, which has also been refreshing for some VGC veterans with older picks returning to the forefront.

However, that doesn’t mean that the player base isn’t eagerly waiting for the playable roster to expand. Especially with a lot more Mega Evolutions from Pokémon Legends Z-A that have never been playable competitively and haven’t had their abilities revealed yet.

Currently, Pokémon Champions has 187 Pokémon playable in the game, including 59 Mega Evolutions, but that could change in a couple of months.

Pokémon Champions is expected to undergo large updates, which will change the roster and rules available in ranked battles.

Especially as the characters have Omni Rings, which allow the use of any battle gimmick such as Z-Moves, Dynamax, and Terastallization.

When Will The Pokémon Champions Roster Be Expanded?

The Pokémon Company hasn’t confirmed when the Pokémon Champion roster will change.

Yet, we have a pretty good idea of when there may be any rotations or expansions to the roster of playable Pokémon.

By the schedule revealed on the Pokémon Champions website, Regulation Set M-B will release with Season M-3.

The game is currently in Regulation Set M-A and Season M-1, with the current ranked season ending on May 12.

Season 2 could add some more Pokémon to the game, though it has already had its battle pass rewards leak and it only included Pokémon already in the game.

However, the start of Regulation Set M-B and Season M-3, which should start in June judging by this season’s length, is when we will likely see big changes to the game.

Especially as on the recruit screen in Pokémon Champions, it says that the current roster is available until the end of June 16.

This could also coincide with the leaked mobile release window of Pokémon Champions.

The official Pokémon Champions website also backs up that this is when we will see roster changes, stating:

“New regulations for Ranked Battles will be set every few seasons to mix up the competition and keep Trainers on their toes.

“The Pokémon you can use and other parameters will change with each new set of regulations. You never know—new Pokémon just might become eligible.”
