A reliable source has provided the Switch 2 release date for Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition.
Sonic Frontiers was released in 2022 and has become the best-selling 3D Sonic game ever, with 3.5 million copies sold since launch. Now, it seems like a Definitive Edition is in the works, which could provide some significant enhancements over the original and is set to arrive on Sonic’s Birthday next month.
Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition Releases for Switch 2 on Sonic’s Birthday in June
The latest report by the reliable billbill-kun from Dealabs has revealed the Switch 2 release date for Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition. It seems this new version will arrive for Nintendo’s latest console on Sonic’s birthday, June 23, 2026. It seems like the announcement could arrive during the rumored Nintendo Direct in mid-June; however, that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The report also provides a price for the Switch 2 version of Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition, with the game costing $49.99 in the United States. It seems the price has been slashed by $10, as the original version for the Switch costs $59.99. Billbill-kun was unable to find the official announcement date for the title’s Switch 2 release, and what content will be included in this version.
In other news, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 director Jeff Fowler confirmed filming has wrapped and teased the first look at Metal Sonic. Additionally, Shuntaro Furukawa has stated Nintendo will deliver a robust Switch 2 lineup to ease concerns surrounding higher console prices.
