Rockstar’s UK union vote runs from November 12 to 26 and could cover over 1,600 workers. A successful ballot would create a major union in the games sector.
This means the vote will continue through the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the most anticipated game of its generation and Rockstar Games’ biggest release to date.
Rockstar UK Workers Set Union Vote for November 12-26

According to a new report from Game File’s Stephen Totilo, the union includes more than 1,600 workers and covers nearly all roles at Rockstar Studios in the UK. According to a previous Bloomberg report, the company has over 4,700 employees across 12 locations around the globe.
Reportedly, the closest thing to the size of this Union in the US is the union comprised of several teams at Blizzard, which has around 1,900 members,
The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain says workers and management have agreed on the terms of the union recognition vote, which would give workers a say on pay and bonuses, overtime, redundancies, flexible working, and generative AI policies.
In June, workers reportedly hoped to unionize before the game’s launch. This follows the dismissal of 31 employees at the UK Rockstar Studio in late 2025.
Despite all this, Rockstar has strong positive momentum leading up to GTA 6’s launch. The latest footage came from a South Park episode that currently calls itself South America and featured a lot of dog crap.
