Rockstar Games has confirmed that they were the victim of a third-party data breach. However, there is no major impact, according to the company.
On April 11, a hacker group calling itself ShinyHunters claimed to have breached Rockstar Games and demanded that the developers pay a ransom by Tuesday, April 14. Some of the data reported to be impacted by the group included financial data, player spending habits, and contracts with outsourcing companies. Now, Rockstar is confirming the breach but says there’s no major impact on the company or its players.

This Isn’t Rockstar Games’ First Breach

Nearly a decade and a half after the release of GTA 5, Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release this year. Currently, barring any further delays, the game is slated for release on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the game is expected to release on PC, its release date has not been announced yet.
