Resident Evil Creator and Stellar Blade Dev Teasing Announcement

It seems that Resident Evil’s creator and the developers of Stellar Blade might be announcing something together.

The last we heard from Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade, was that it was increasing its focus on self-publishing future projects. Additionally, earlier this month, Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, announced his new studio, Unbound, is working on a AAA original IP for consoles and PC.

Unbound and Shift Up Post Similar Announcement Teases

Spotted by Genki_JPN on X (formerly Twitter), both Shinji Mikami’s Unbound and Shift Up have teased that an announcement will be made soon, and both of their posts have a similar ending. Shift Up’s post came first, stating “there are some calls that need to be answered” with the date April 1, 2026, written. Unbound’s post came soon after with the caption “Come on, let’s go together. Let’s create an unforgettable experience” (translated by X).

Additionally, both posts conclude with the phrase “Announcement Coming Soon…” displayed in the same font, along with Japanese translations for Unbound and Korean translations for Shift Up’s posts. Furthermore, in Unbound’s video, we see Shinji Mikami talking to a mysterious man and saying, “Together, you and me, let’s make games together that will change the world.” The mysterious man responds, “Let’s do it. I will put all my effort into it.” Mikami concludes, “And I will do the same”.

Readers should note that nothing has been confirmed yet, but many hints are pointing to a possible collaboration that cannot be dismissed. We might receive more details tomorrow as Shift Up’s announcement is scheduled for April 1.

In other news, Stellar Blade could be coming to more platforms in the near future. Additionally, Resident Evil Requiem’s latest patch adds a photo mode. • Definitely an April’s fools joke. If not I’m very cautious and keeping my expectations extremely low because not gonna lie, Capcom and a handful Japanese studios have submitted to woke agenta many years ago. Some examples are uglified female protagonists, female girl bosses, pride flags on some games, censorship and cut content etc. Shift Up is my favourite company as of right now and i have faith in them still. Luckily the Eastern market is dominating the Western one nowadays so that’s a huge win. Lastly Marathon will have the same treatment as Highguard at the end of this year or early 2027 for sure. Even Fortnite is finally declining so this live-service slops won’t be trending anymore. Nothing lasts forever

  • So did he rebrand Kamuy to Unbound? Also great this will piss off Max Dood because he and other boomers have some weird hate towards Stellar Blade, now the boomers want to slither their way in pretend they’re hip. Shift Up should help fund Nagoshi’s game.
