The return of the beloved Mega mechanic is coming to the Pokémon TCG with the Mega Evolutions set due to release this year, with excitement levels continuing to rise.
There’s plenty to be excited about in the Pokémon franchise heading into the second half of 2025, including the fiercely anticipated release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and reveals from the Pokémon Presents stream in July.
For those tuned into the Pokémon TCG, Mega Evolution is next in line following Black Bolt and White Flare, and we’ve got all the details you need for the set.
Pokémon TCG Mega Evolutions Release Date

The Mega Evolutions Pokémon TCG releases on Friday, September 26, nearly two months after the Japanese versions of the set make their debut.
Japan’s versions, Mega Symphonia and Mega Brave, release on August 1, so, as usual, we’ll get a strong indication of what the Mega Evolutions set will feature when the Japanese release occurs.
Unlike Black Bolt and White Flare, the western set will not be a dual set and, like the majority of other sets over the years, will combine the two Japanese sets.
Mega Evolutions is likely to be the penultimate Pokémon TCG set in the west for 2025, with the last due to come in November. The next two Japanese sets, Inferno X and Ninja Spinner, suggest Mega Charizard and Mega Greninja will be the highlights.
Pokémon TCG Mega Evolutions Pre-Order Guide
Pokémon Center pre-orders went live on July 15 with exclusive products; the Pokémon Center versions of two Elite Trainer Boxes, and an enhanced Booster Box with a set-stamped Bulbasaur Illustration Rare card.
The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes come with two promo cards, a stamped version and a normal version, and there are two Elite Trainer Boxes for the set—Mega Lucario featuring a Riolu Illustration Rare promo, and Mega Gardevoir featuring an Alakazam Illustration Rare promo.
Other retailers are now expected to list pre-order items for the Mega Evolution set, though the availability depends on the allocations they get from distributors. Fortunately, many offer a service to receive a notification when stock is available.
Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Amazon are the main sites for pre-orders, though it’s definitely worth checking with any local shops and online stores for available stock.
