Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025: All Spawns, Timed Research, Collection Challenges & Raids

The Pokémon Go Water Festival is underway for 2025, bringing the debut of Tatsugiri to the game, alongside a host of challenges and special spawns.

As Pokémon fans eagerly count down to next week’s Pokémon Direct, as well as eyeing a summer event in Pokémon TCG Pocket, Pokémon Go has plenty to offer players in the latest event.

For all the details on the event’s duration, the Pokémon you can encounter, the challenges to complete, and the Raids to tackle, check out this guide.

The Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025 Event ends on Sunday, July 20, at 8 pm local time.

That will bring an end to the five-day event, giving you plenty of time to work through the Timed Research and Collection Challenges, as well as tackling all the Raids and catching a spree of wild Pokémon.

All Pokémon Spawns in Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025

A total of 15 Pokémon have increased spawn rates in Pokémon Go for the event, including an increased chance to encounter a Shiny Staryu or Shiny Tirtouga.

Overall, 13 of the Pokémon featured in the event have shiny forms available, with the exceptions being Lanturn and Palpitoad. While Shiny forms of both Pokémon have been released in Pokémon Go, they won’t be encounterable in the wild during the Water Festival 2025 event.

Check out the table below for the full list of increased spawns and Shiny availability.

All Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025 Timed Research

Premium Research is available in the event for $4.99, providing tasks to complete with individual rewards, along with an exclusive reward for completing all of the available tasks.

The only exclusive reward is the Ice Cream Pose Cosmetic, an emote that shows your character eating ice cream, with the other rewards being available elsewhere in the game—so I don’t recommend buying the Timed Research pass, unless you’re desperate for the emote.

All Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025 Collection Challenges

Three Collection Challenges are available in the Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025, tasking you with catching a total of 15 different Pokémon available through the event.

The majority can be encountered in the wild, though the evolved forms featured are found in Raids. Evolving a Pokémon into the required form will not tick off the challenge, as it is listed as catch only.

All Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025 Raids

There are seven event raids in the Pokémon Go Water Festival 2025, with the highlight being the debut of Tatsugiri in the game.

Like any normal Pokémon Go debut, the Shiny form of Tatsugiri is not available and will debut at a separate time in the future, and only four of the seven Raid Pokémon have a chance to be Shiny.

This does include the Lapras form wearing a scarf, however, so you might want to try and grind for that, and there’s also a Gigantamax Lapras to tackle in the July 19 Max Battle Day from 2 pm to 5 pm local time.
