The unthinkable has seemingly happened: a Pokémon fan has claimed that Pope Leo XIV has signed their Popplio Card.
Pope Leo XIV Seemingly Signs Popplio Pokémon Card
Spotted by The Gamer, images of Pope Leo’s signature on a Popplio Pokémon card have recently surfaced online. A user on the r/interestingasfuck subreddit has claimed that the signature is indeed valid and has explained how he managed to get the current Pope’s signature.
The user u/ReptileCake explains that they were on a “youth pilgrimage for the jubilee year”, where they were able to use some contacts to get invited to the audience. Pope Leo arrived at the event and invited everyone to a meet and greet after a speech. During this time, the Pokémon fan handed a ‘Reverse Holo Popplio’ card to the Pope and asked him to sign it.
The Pokémon fan also revealed that Pope Leo laughed, “probably as a courtesy” after he was handed the Popplio card. However, the Pope was familiar with Pokémon cards. The Pope also showed the card to the guards around him, poking fun at the obvious word play. The user has revealed that they have no intention of selling it; it will “just stay put in a sleeve and a one-touch UV slab.”
