Palworld Dev Responds to Pokopia and Palfarm Comparisons

Pocketpair’s communication director has responded to comparisons between Pokémon’s Pokopia and Palworld’s Palfarm.

Palworld and Pokémon are not the best of friends right now, with the former facing a patent infringement lawsuit from the latter and the Nintendo company. Interestingly, both entities have announced two similar titles around the same window, Pokopia and Palfarm, and players have already begun making comparisons.

Palworld Dev States they Aren’t Wizards to Make a Game in One Week

Spotted by GamesRadar+, the communications director and publishing manager at Pocketpair, Bucky, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to comparisons between Pokopia and Palfarm. Bucky first stated that he expected a “certain % of silliness and grumpy people” when announcing Palfarm, and a small percentage of people who would be angry at Pocketpair were expected as well.

However, he is surprised, “How many people think we’re wizard-level developers able to make a game in 1 week?” Which is true, as Pokopia was announced last week, and Palfarm received an announcement yesterday. Bucky concluded stating, “Schrödinger’s Pocketpair I guess. We are both a “slop company” and capable of making entire games in 1 week it seems.”

The comparisons aren’t surprising, as both games do feel somewhat similar. However, it’s next to impossible that Pocketpair could have something ready for announcement within a week of the previous game’s reveal. Palfarm’s description states that players have to “turn fields into full-functioning farms solo or in online multiplayer.” Pokopia is a game where players can collect wood, rocks, and other crafting materials to create a cozy home. They can also learn new abilities from other Pokémon to make their home better.

What are your thoughts on Bucky’s response to Palfarm and Pokopia comparisons? Let us know through the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
