Prototype came out in an era of new sandbox titles where everyone was clamoring to be the next GTA or Assassin’s Creed. It gained a cult following, which turned into a decade-plus-long obsession, and those desperate for a Prototype Remaster might be about to have a good day.
We first reported back in April 2025 that a new Prototype Game was in the works. A playtester claimed they were trying out the game. It’s been quiet on the front for a while, but new details have emerged that add to the evidence suggesting a new Prototype project is underway.
Prototype Remaster Update Reportedly Adds Test Maps & New Credits

A post on the Prototype subreddit suggests a “Prototype remaster might just be in the works.” User StanleyMitchell shared several screenshots of a Discord conversation and what appear to be Prototype images.
Prototype received a surprise update on Steam in September 2025. There was some confusion about the details and nature of the update. However, “One of the OG modders for the game data mined the recent update and has found a lot of interesting things.”
It’s claimed Iron Galaxy Studios is attached to the project—which is under the Activision umbrella and handled the Spyro Remake trilogy—and they’re “remastering the game.”
The two biggest pieces of evidence point to the game’s credits and test maps. There are many new names in the datamined credits, and the modder believes a new “Locomotion test map” is being used to test the remaster.
The evidence looks compelling and convincing, but we’ll have to wait and see if it happens. Would you be elated to see a full Prototype Remaster?
