GTA 6 Map Size Officially Revealed—How Big Is It?

With the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) just weeks away, new details continue to come out to build even more excitement for what will be the biggest game launch in history. One of those details involves the map size in GTA 6.

In a new deep dive story on the game, we now know just how big GTA 6’s map really is.

The Map is bigger than any Rockstar game, ever

From the start, everyone knew that the map would be the biggest of any Rockstar game. That’s just the nature of doing something as big as GTA 6. But in a new story from Edge Magazine, it’s bigger than I think some expected.

According to Rockstar, the map is just about twice the size of GTA 5. When it comes to total landmass, Rockstar says that it’s nearly as large as the playable areas of GTA 4, GTA 5, and even Red Dead Redemption 2.

They continued that it’s not just about how big the map is. It’s also about what makes up the world within Leonida. Rockstar focused on the density of the area, with head of development Aaron Garbut saying, “You can go anywhere, any random location, and so many people have thought about that location.”

He added that he continues to explore areas and find things he didn’t know existed in the game.

GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
