Silent Hill 1 Remake Now in Full Production at Bloober Team

Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, is now in full flow working on a Silent Hill 1 remake, as revealed during a recent shareholder update. It was confirmed that the studio is split into two first-party teams, and while one is working on the Silent Hill 1 remake, the second team is working on ‘a second project’ that wasn’t unveiled.

Silent Hill 2 was released by Bloober in October 2024 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. It’s a stellar rebuilding of an iconic title that helped pave the way for the horror genre, and fans are chomping at the bit to see what Bloober can do with Silent Hill 1.

Remaking a Cult Classic

Silent Hill debuted in 1999 on the PlayStation platform, emerging as a chilling and terrifying game that scared the pants off gamers for years to come. It introduced the setting of the same name, which has since become synonymous with horror, much like Resident Evil’s Raccoon City, and has been covered by other entertainment media since, such as feature films.

It’s widely considered one of the best horror games (or just games in general) ever made.

During a recent shareholder update, Bloober Team spoke at length about the performance of the studio, touching on Cronos: New Dawn and the ongoing success of Silent Hill 2. One investor asked about future projects and the current roadmap, to which Bloober’s management team confirmed:

We have two first-party production teams, one of which is working on Silent Hill 1, and the other has begun work on a second project. The second-party team is currently working on five projects.

(Thanks to Shinobi602 for the spot)

Given the immense success of the first Silent Hill remake, it stands to reason that the next would be equally as well received. Unfortunately, it took around five years to produce Silent Hill 2, so it might be a long while before Bloober Team is ready to reveal Silent Hill 1.

  • Silent Hill 2 remake was awful, f was awful, how will this be good? I really don’t trust Konami with games. Maybe anime if Suikoden anime is good but yeah don’t trust them here. Maybe Eden’s Zero is good.
