If you’ve ever wanted to double up on your Fallout fun, now is the time. Recently, a talented modder created something amazing, a mod that allows you to play other games on your in-game Pip-Boy in Fallout 4. It takes a fair whack to get it all running smoothly, but with this mod, you can play Fallout while playing Fallout, and that just sounds beautiful.
What’s next? Perhaps we’ll be able to sit down in our safe houses in Grand Theft Auto 6, boot up the PlayStation console we know will be there, and play some Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, or something.
Fallout 4 Mod Introduces Games to Pip-Boy
The Pip-Boy is a wondrous invention, both in and out of the Fallout universe. It allows you to manage your entire character, from skill point distribution and healing mechanics to inventory management and map traversal. It’s the hub of every modern Fallout title, and now, it’s being pushed further than ever before.
While we’ve seen some mods that tweak how the Pip-Boy works, we’ve never seen one that adds other games to the device.
On Nexus Mods, RPGKing177 uploaded a mod that adds Morrowind, the classic Elder Scrolls game, to the Pip-Boy. The mod’s description reads:
This mod streams The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind live into the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy screen using a custom-modified build of OpenMW 0.50 — bridged directly into the game engine via shared memory and a dedicated F4SE plugin. Insert the Morrowind Holotape, open your Pip-Boy, and the rest is up to you.
Due to a repository issue, the Fallout 1 version of the mod is not available via Nexus. The Morrowind one is, but we’re here for the post-apocalyptic double-dip, right? That being said, RPGKing117 did share a video showcasing Fallout 1 working just fine via the mod:
It’s expected that you’ll be able to install the mod via Nexus soon enough; it just wasn’t available at the time of writing.
