Last week, Rebel Wolves released The Blood of Dawnwalker, the studio’s debut title. It proved to be a rampant success, selling more than one million copies in a little more than a day and flying up the charts when it came to review scores. It has been regarded as perhaps one of the best debut titles from a new studio in years, if not ever.
In a post on social media, Rebel Wolves’ narrative director, Jakub Szamalek, revealed that the team isn’t sitting back and basking in the success of their breakout game, but rather, they’re moving towards what’s next. That, my friends, is a second game.
We Always Knew It Would Be This Way
It was always obvious that The Blood of Dawnwalker would kickstart an entirely new RPG saga; we just didn’t know how universally appreciated the first outing would be. Last week, I published my review for The Blood of Dawnwalker, awarding it a 9 out of 10 and writing:
The Blood of Dawnwalker could be the best debut IP from a new studio in years, representing a brutal, diverse adventure in a stunning open world.
Now, in a post on LinkedIn, Jakub Szamalek, the narrative director of what is set to become the Dawnwalker saga, wrote:
The Blood of Dawnwalker released to critical acclaim and sold over one million copies in the opening weekend. But! We’re not resting on our laurels – no, siree! We’re already thinking about comes next.
And so! Drum roll please! I’m looking for a Lead Writer to help me and the narrative team craft the next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga.
Presently, there’s almost nothing to say about what the next game would look like. Would we receive a trend that is indicated by a title structure like ‘The X of Dawnwalker’? Perhaps.
The ending of The Blood of Dawnwalker reveals a modern-day cutscene that shows our hero, Coen of Laslea, alive hundreds of years after the setting of the first game. He’s fighting an extremely powerful, vampiric being, showing that his Dawnwalker activities have continued for centuries.

That’s not a spoiler, by the way. Rebel Wolves released that snippet as a trailer months ago. It’s just replayed at the end of The Blood of Dawnwalker.
So, as if it needed to be said, there’s another Blood of Dawnwalker game coming. What do you want to see from it? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
