Metro Redux Getting Free Next-Gen Update on October 22nd

In a new announcement, 4A Games has confirmed that Metro Redux, the overhauled version of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, will be getting a free next-gen update that arrives first on PC on October 22nd. This news comes hours after ESRB ratings for both games surfaced on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series platforms, confirming why they suddenly appeared.

In a press release, the team at 4A Games explained all the technical innovation and great leaps forward being packed into the Metro Redux update, but you’ll need to scroll just a little further to find out what’s coming.

Metro Redux Upgrade Coming Soon

If you’re excited for the imminent release of Metro 2039, you might be equally excited to learn that you can revisit Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light soon, with stacks of technical upgrades having been applied.

On October 22nd (on PC) and October 29 (on PlayStation and XBOX), Metro Redux will receive a free next-gen upgrade for all existing owners.

The team at 4A Games has confirmed that this update enhances both games’ textures, lighting, shadows, animations, audio, and environmental detail. Additionally, it boosts the resolution to 4K and up to 120 FPS on console, and 4K with uncapped frame rates on PC platforms.

It was stated that this release comes as the franchise celebrates a whopping 50 million global sales since the first game debuted in 2010.

Right now, the post-apocalyptic gaming world is preparing for the release of Metro 2039, a hugely anticipated title that I was lucky to play for a few hours back in August. In my full preview, I suggested it could be the best post-apocalyptic shooter ever made – and I stand by that.
