Gears of War: E-Day Metacritic Review Score Fares Well With Critics

The review embargo for Gears of War: E-Day has lifted, and the scores are in; it seems the title is doing pretty well in the initial reviews Metacritic has gathered.

Gears of War: E-Day, the prequel to the highly popular franchise, is all set to release on October 6, 2026. Ahead of the launch, players have already been informed about Versus Ranked mode, Season 1 Content, Mythic Achievement details, and much more. Now that the reviews are out, players can see what to expect from the game.

Gears of War: E-Day Off to a Great Start with Reviews on Metacritic

Spotted by Forbes, reviews for Gears of War: E-Day have started appearing on Metacritic, and the initial feedback is quite positive. At the time of writing, the game has a score of 87 based on 20 critic reviews. However, players should keep in mind that this score may change as more reviews come in; we will update the story if needed. Overall, the game is off to a strong start, receiving mostly favorable reviews.

Compared to the previous titles in the series, Gears of War: E-Day ranks in the middle. The first three installments of the franchise hold the top spots with scores of 94, 93, and 91, respectively. Following that, Gears of War: E-Day received a score of 87, placing it fourth. In fifth and sixth positions, Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 both have a Metacritic score of 84.
