Gears of War: E-Day players looking forward to jumping into the pinnacle of competitive multiplayer in the title will have to wait a while longer, with it revealed Ranked is not included at launch.
While the campaign, which is set before the events of the original Gears of War title and focuses on the Emergence of the Locust, will take plenty of attention, multiplayer remains a core part of The Coalition franchise.
However, Ranked won’t be available immediately with the launch of Gears of War: E-Day, but the good news is you won’t have to wait too much longer to dive in.
Ranked Comes to Gears of War: E-Day on October 13
In a pre-launch blog post, The Coalition revealed that Ranked multiplayer modes will be absent in the early access launch, October 1, and on the subsequent full release on October 6.
Instead, Versus Ranked will arrive a week after the full launch, on October 13, “giving players crucial time to get up-to-speed” with all the maps, modes, and sandbox, before jumping into competitive.
It was also confirmed that the Weekly Challenges that Premium Edition owners receive on October 1 are the same that will be available on the October 6 launch, before then refreshing weekly from October 13.
The news of Ranked being absent from Gears of War: E-Day at launch has been criticized by some in the community, but, fortunately, it’s only a wait of a week.
It means there is plenty of time to dig into the Campaign and Horde Siege without fear of falling behind in the Ranked scene, which will be welcome by some players.
