Meccha Chameleon Becomes 2026’s Best-Selling Game

Meccha Chameleon has sold 15 million copies in under a month, setting a new benchmark as this year’s biggest gaming success so far.

Meccha Chamelon is a game made by a solo developer that has completely caught fire. It’s only $5.99 on Steam, and as of today, July 5, 2026, the game has surpassed 15 million sales worldwide. In a message posted on Steam, the solo developer lemorion_1224 thanked players and said to be ready for a collaboration with a “famous Japanese star” beginning next week.

For those unaware, this game is a special take on hide-and-seek, where players use paint to blend their character into their hiding spots. Now, the simple concept is making even more history.

By passing the milestone, the game has become the fastest-selling and highest-selling game of the year so far. According to Daniel Ahmed of Niko, this game has outsold Resident Evil: Requiem, Forza Horizon 6, and more. The game was released on June 9, meaning that it shattered these records in less than a month.

The game had surpassed 10 million in sales by June 26, meaning that less than 2 weeks later, another 5 million copies were sold. That’s not as fast as the game reaching 10 million sales in 6 days after hitting 5 million, but this game is still clearly on fire.

The game currently has over 150,000 players. The game had its all-time peak two weeks ago with 340,534 players. A small update was applied to the title on July 4. This update brings stability fixes to the 3D Color Picker. Also, it fixes an issue where collision detection still applied to invisible players in “Gyakusan Chicken Race. Plus, the Osaka map was reworked.

How do you feel about this small indie title breaking all these records? What is your game of the year so far? Sound off about this story and all others in our official Discord server.
